Dear Parents,

We hope that your child has settled in well at playgroup and is ready to take part in lots of exciting activities that we will have on offer. We are introducing a Key Worker system and your chid's key worker this year will be ........................... . For those of you unsure of what a Key Worker does, the definition is highlighted below.

A Key Worker is responsible for liaising with the child's carer, informing the carer of activities in which the child has participated. She/he has the responsibility for monitoring your child's development in the seven areas of learning outcomes. She/he will be happy to work with you if you feel that your child needs any extra assistance at any time. She/he will not be with your child every minute of the day as we encourage interaction between all staff and children - but she/he will keep a watchful eye on him/her. Your child's Key Worker's name is on the notice board.

We hope this helps to explain a little about the role of the Key Worker.

Please can we ask that you label your child's coat, hat, gloves scarves etc with their full name. At the beginning of the term some children are unsure of which outerwear is theirs and the staff are not always familiar with who arrived wearing what and it can sometimes cause confusion to staff if two children have the same item! If you do not have any name labels or laundry pen markers to do so, please inform staff as there is a marker pen available at playgroup and we can do this for you.

If your child does stay for lunch at Playgroup, please can you ensure that you do try whenever possible to provide a healthy lunchbox for them, as we will be taking part in a new Healthy Pre-School Initiative, which promotes Health and Fitness throughout the Early Years. We do appreciate that you the parents know your own child's likes and dislikes, but ask that you limit the number of chocolate biscuits and crisps that are given. Under no circumstances do we allow the children "fizzy drinks". Also to comply with Health and Safety legislation we must ask that you ensure there is a cool pack placed in your child's lunchbox as we do not have a facility to refrigerate them.

Any food uneaten by your child will be sent home in the lunchbox so you are aware of what they have eaten. Please remember not to pack too much into their lunchboxes, as they will have received a healthy snack mid-morning along with a drink of milk or water.

Our Topic this term is "All About Me", please see the attached letter for further information.

Should you require any further information , please don't hesitate to contact us on 01492 518399.
