forest school bonfire...

Added: 15/11/2011

As part of our topic on the autumn weather and to celebrate Bonfire night we visted the Forest School on the main school site where we collected twigs to make a bonfire with. Miss Lynn the forest school teacher explained the dangers of fire and gave us all some rules to follow to keep ourselves safe when close to the fire.

Some of us even helped to carry the water to help put the fire out!! We had lots of fun toasting marshmallows which we ate between chocolate biscuits and with the help of our teachers we even made hot chocolate using water we had heated on the bonfire. There were lots of brown, yellow and golden leaves which we collected to make leaf crowns with.

Miss Lyn helped us to make small wooden cookie necklaces, that we decorated and then threaded onto string. Some of us helped to build a den for our friends to sit in, we used really long sticks and branches. We had load of fun throwing the leaves into the air and trying to catch them whilst we learnt the rhyme "Autumn leaves are falling down, red and yellow and golden brown".
