Admissions

Statement of Intent

It is our intention to make our Playgroup accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community.

Ai

Llanddulas playgroup is open to every family in the community with preference given to those who live in the parish of Llanddulas.

All children are welcome irrespective of gender, ethnic origin, language, culture, disability, learning difficulty.

In order to achieve this aim, we operate the following admissions policy.

  • We ensure that the existence of the Playgroup is widely advertised in places accessible to all sections of the community.
  • We ensure that information about our Playgroup is accessible - in written and spoken form - and, where appropriate, in different languages. Where necessary, we will try to provide information in Braille, or through signing or an interpreter.
  • We describe our Playgroup and its practices in terms which make it clear that it welcomes fathers and mothers, other relations and other carers, including childminders.
  • We describe our Playgroup and its practices in terms of how it treats individuals, regardless of their gender, special educational needs, disabilities, background, religion, ethnicity or competence in spoken English.
  • We describe our Playgroup and its practices in terms of how it enables children with disabilities to take part in the life of the Playgroup.
  • We make our inclusion policy widely known.
  • We discuss with parent/carers the child's weekly attendance routine. We require your child to attend a minimum of 2 sessions per week to ensure that they are given the opportunity to partake in all the activities and facilities that we offer and also to enable staff to build a strong bond with your child and carry out observations and assessments.

We arrange our waiting list in date of enrolment order. In addition our policy may take into account the following factors should places available be limited:

  • A child with a sibling already attending Llanddulas Playgroup
  • A child who is resident in the parish of Llanddulas.
  • An older child in preference to a younger child.
  • A child with disabilities or learning difficulties.
  • Referral by professionals i.e. Health visitor.
  • Length of time on the waiting list.
  • A child who has no access to any other pre school provision.
  • Securing a place at Llanddulas playroup does not guarantee your child a place at Ysgol Llanddulas nursery class, all admissions to the school are dealt with by the LEA.

The play leader and management committee will make a joint decision on allocating the place.

Should a place not be available when your child is 2 years 3 months, your child will be allocated a place as soon as a space becomes available.

Parent /carers will be sent a letter nearer date of admission requesting the confirmation of sessions required, you will be invited to return the slip on the bottom of the letter and pay the registration fee, and your child's sessions will then be allocated.

This policy was reviewed and amended by J Heap May 2014.
